Check with various airlines before you book your flight to see if they allow pet birds. Do so by calling or checking their websites. Airlines such as Southwest, Jet Blue, and Frontier do not allow birds. Others allow a certain number of birds in first-class or in the main cabin. For example, Northwest Airlines allows up to two birds in first-class and up to four birds in the main cabin.
Review your chosen airline's rules and regulations about flying with a bird. Make sure you fully comply.
Make a reservation for your bird at the same time you make one for yourself. Expect to pay an additional pet-in-cabin fee.
Bring an up-to-date certificate of health from your veterinarian on the day of your flight. You may not be able to board the plane without this information on your bird.
Put your bird in a container that can fit under your seat and one that meets all requirements of the airline.
Keep your bird in the cage and under your seat at all times during the flight.
