Airlines With Seats That Lay Flat in First Class

As of 2010, many airlines are making the effort to install first class and business class seats that turn into fully flat beds to give passengers extra comfort on long journeys. Some airlines have even begun merging first and business class cabins into a sort of hybrid, with fully flat beds being one of the main attractions. If you are about to embark on a long voyage and need to get some shut-eye, all of these airlines provide first or premium class seats with fully flat beds:
  1. Virgin Atlantic

    • Virgin Atlantic has a reputation for premium service even in economy class, so it is no surprise that its first class cabins come fully stocked with amenities and features. The Upper Class Suite features a 22 inch wide seat that turns into a fully flat bed with a length of 6 feet 6 inches. Seats also come with a 10.4 inch TV full of complimentary films and programs as well as an electrical socket for laptops. The Upper Class Suite also features the OnBoard Bar with drinks and snacks.

    United

    • As of 2007, United Airlines began to include Suite Dreams on long flights, which is United's version of a premium first and business class cabin. The first class seats are up to 23.5 inches wide and recline to a 180 degree, fully flat bed that is 6 feet 6 inches long. First class seats are designed for maximum privacy, with each unit having its own enclosed space. Each space provides a set of noise-canceling headphones, USB outlet for charging small devices, and an electrical outlet to power laptops.

    Air Canada

    • Air Canada's hybrid of business and first class is called Executive First, and is available on most international flights. Executive First suites feature a 6 foot 3 inch fully flat bed that is 31 inches wide with a 12-inch touch screen TV for in-flight entertainment. Each suite is also equipped with a workspace that includes an oversized tray, personal reading light, extra stowage and a power outlet for laptop computers. Executive First passengers also have access to in-flight satellite radio.

    Air France

    • Air France offers the La Premiere first class cabin which features seats that turn into fully flat beds measuring 2 meters (6 feet 7 inches) in length. Each suite provides passengers with a 10.4 inch TV with video on demand, an auto-massage feature within the seat, individual telephone and an electrical outlet for laptop computers. Extra perks in La Premiere include lounge wear, slippers, a dust bag for shoes and a travel kit featuring Clarins products.
