How to Fly JetBlue with Kids

Family-friendly JetBlue offers a newer fleet of airplanes that family travelers choose for budget-conscious prices and free amenities (it does not, however, offer lower prices for children's tickets). Even in airports, JetBlue lounges provide free Wi-Fi so kids can play games on laptops or update their Facebook status. JetBlue planes do not provide free pillows or blankets, so if you want your child to nap on the flight, you might want to bring your own.

Bring comfortable headphones for your child. All JetBlue planes have family-friendly individual television screens at each seat with live TV. Your kid can choose Animal Planet, MTV or another network from the 36 channels. JetBlue charges for headphones, so save the money and bring your own.

Buy milk in the airport. JetBlue offers decent free snacks for kids, including Terra Blues chips, chocolate chip cookies, cashews and animal crackers, but the airline doesn't give out individual cartons of milk. If your child prefers juice, he can drink orange, cranberry or apple. There are also more substantial snack boxes for sale.

Pack your kids' favorite toys and extra clothing. You can check your first bag free on JetBlue, which means family travelers can check one free bag for each family member flying. You can gate-check your stroller, but you might want to ask if you can put it in the overhead bin. The bins are often not filled since many people take advantage of the free bag check.

Pre-board with your kids. JetBlue is one of the few airlines that still allows families to board early in the process. This allows you to store diaper bags, secure car seats and get your kids comfortable on the plane.
