If you are part of a frequent flyer program you can earn miles for all flights you take through a specific carrier. After a certain amount of miles are collected, you can redeem them towards a free flight going just about anywhere in the world. This includes flying from Alberta, Canada to Cancun, Mexico. You just need to make sure you book your flight well enough in advance.
Navigate to the website of your frequent flyer program and log into your account. There is often an option to "use miles" or similar to redeem miles for flights.
Select the option to book a flight. Input your locations on where you want to go (departing from Alberta, arriving in Cancun).
Select the date you want to fly out on. Make sure you are flexible with your dates because when using airline miles, it can sometimes be difficult to book a specific day, especially when it is a weekend around a holiday.
Book the flights. You will be shown your balance of airline miles, if they cover the entire flight, or if you need to pay for part of it as well beyond what your mileage balance will cover.
Print out your flight booking information.
