Visit your state's DMV website. Locate the change of address section and proceed. Provide your true name, Social Security number and identification card number
Indicate what type of service you are requesting. Request which service option works best for you; address change or renewal and address change. Some states offer address changes for free if no renewal is needed. Online change of address availability is based on the validity of information provided; if you do not qualify you will be asked to visit a driver service facility.
Make a payment, if necessary. You can make online payments with a debit or credit card.
Call your local DMV office to reach a customer service representative. Have your valid identification card available to prove your identity. If you are not eligible to order over the phone, request a change of address form to be mailed to you.
Request a change of address for your state identification card. Provide your new address. If you own a drivers license, you may be asked to change the address on both forms of identification.
Make your payment, if necessary. Some states require a fee only if you order new documents.
