How to Change the Combination on a TSA Lock

If you travel frequently and carry valuable belongings in your suitcase, you may want to invest in a Transportation Security Administration lock. This special combination lock cannot be opened by the average person, but can be unlocked by TSA personnel for inspection. This will allow you to protect your luggage while still complying with TSA regulations. If you want to reset your combination, you can easily change your TSA lock combination in just a few minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Set all of the numbers to zero if this is a factory-set lock that has not been used. If you know your combination and you want to reset it, set the dials to your combination.

    • 2

      Pull the shackle straight out.

    • 3

Turn the shackle 90 degrees to the right or left and press it back into the lock.

    • 4

Set your new desired combination. Make sure that all of the new numbers line up along the combination line on the face of the lock.

    • 5

Pull the shackle back out completely and adjust the shackle to the locked position, pressing it back into the lock. Spin the combination numbers to lock the lock.

    • 6

Test your combination. Enter your new combination and pull straight back on the shackle. The lock should come open.
