How to Change the Combination on Carrying Case Lock

Having a combination lock on your luggage is a good way to secure your valuables when you travel. If you are going by air, you should keep in mind that you will either have to supply the airline with the combination of the lock or leave it unlocked for security to check your luggage. If you are traveling by train, bus, or car, you do not have to worry about having an additional search of your luggage, and locking your suitcase or briefcase will help you to secure your valuables. Many luggage cases come with combination locks. These have a factory setting of 0-0-0 for the combination. In order to secure the contents of your luggage, you need to change this.

Instructions

  Open your suitcase.

  Look on the back of the combination locks on the inside of the suitcase. You will see on both of the locks a small lever.

  Move the lever on the back of the locks to the middle position. This will allow you to change the factory settings to your own combination.

  Change both of the locks on to your preferred combination. Use something that is easy to remember for you, but do not use overly simple combinations such as 1-2-3 or 3-2-1.

  Move the lever on the back of the lock back to its original position, and place a piece of tape over the lever so that it does not move accidentally.

  Close the suitcase and move the number dials on the combination locks to any number other than your combination. This will lock the case.

  Move the combination locks to your reset code in order to unlock the suitcase.
