When moving from one address to another in the state of Michigan you will want to change your address for forwarding purposes. The official USPS website offers an online option which costs only $1 to use and allows for the quickest address change available. Since Michigan law requires you to officially change your address when you move, this is an important first step.

      Visit the official USPS website at USPS.com.

      Click on the "Household" link by the top left side of the page.

      Click on the large icon that says "Change your address online." This image is located to the far right top corner of the web page.

      Click on the large arrow that says "Cick here to begin" after you have read the site's terms and services.

      Choose "Permanent" if you will not be returning to your old address or "Temporary" if you will be changing addresses again after a short period of time.

      Fill in the "Start forwarding date" section. This will be the date your mail begins to forward to the new address.

      Choose the type of forwarding you require--individual, family or business.

      Enter in your old address and other personal information as requested, followed by the new forwarding address. Enter a valid e-mail address to receive important change of address notifications.

      Enter in your credit card number. You will be charged a $1 identify verification fee and a verification of your address change.
