How to Request a Post Office Address Change

The United States Postal Service needs your current address any time you move to ensure that you receive your mail. The easiest way to communicate your mailing address change to the post office is to submit a change of address form. Notify the post office of an address change up to 30 days before the move. It takes a couple of days to process the change, so if you wait until the day of your move, expect a delay in mail delivery.

Instructions

Go to the USPS website. Navigate to the USPS change of address form. Review the privacy policy, then click “Click here to begin.”

Select the appropriate option for your change of address. If you are the only person living at the existing address who is moving, select “Individual.” If the entire household is relocating, select “Family.” If this is a business relocation, choose “Business.”
