Go to the USPS website. Navigate to the USPS change of address form. Review the privacy policy, then click “Click here to begin.”
Select the appropriate status for your address change. If you will be returning to your existing address, select “Temporary.” If this is a permanent address change, select “Permanent.” Input the date your address change is effective. Click “Continue.”
Select the appropriate option for your change of address. If you are the only person living at the existing address who is moving, select “Individual.” If the entire household is relocating, select “Family.” If this is a business relocation, choose “Business.”
Input your full name, current address and the new address. Add your email address for confirmation purposes, then enter it a second time for verification. Click “Continue.” Enter your debit/credit card information as requested. Your card will be charged $1 to verify your identity. Click “Confirm” to process the address change. Allow up to two weeks for the address change to take effect.
Visit the post office and request a “Moving Packet.”
Fill out the name, current address, new address and effective date information for your address change. Sign the card in the appropriate place.
Place the card in your mailbox and raise the flag. Your mail carrier will return it to the post office for processing. Alternatively, you can deliver the card to the post office or drop it in any outgoing mailbox. Allow up to 2 weeks for the address change to process.
