Park the camper and turn off all propane-powered gear like the stove, oven or fridge. Go to the LP tank, most often found at the back of the camper tow arm. Turn the gas flow valve off at the tank. The gas valve control is a metal knob on the side of the tank stem.
Unscrew the hose connections on the tank. Use an adjustable wrench to start unthreading if the old tank's attachments are extremely tight. Once loosened with the adjustable wrench, continue to unscrew the connection using your hands.
Take the old LP tank to a certified RV and camper propane dealer. Most RV dealerships and camping stores provide this service. Provide the shop employee with the old tank and the make, model and year of your camper.
Purchase the replacement tank and have the shop fill it with the LP gas. Bring it back to the camper.
Place the new tank in the LP tank housing and screw in the hose connections for the tank. Turn the connections hand tight. Turn on the gas flow at the tank and go inside the camper to test the tank's connection by turning on the fridge or stove.
