Tips on Buying a New Travel Trailer

There are several questions you should ask yourself before you buy a motor home. For one, you should decide how frequently you will take one on the road. Only you can decide if staying in hotels or motels is preferable to staying in a motor home. You also must decide what type of motor home you will need, depending on the price you can afford. Once you have answered these questions, you'll be one step closer to becoming a "king of the road."
  1. Rent Before You Buy

    • There are travel trailer dealers across the country that will rent you an RV. If you are in the market for an RV, particularly if it is the first time, it's preferable to rent one to determine if you like the lifestyle and to help you find out what type of motor home is best suited to you. Rent a motor home for a weekend or for an extended trip.

    Kind of Motor Home

    • Motor homes come in a myriad of shapes and sizes and they are made by more than 50 manufacturers. Motor homes fall into seven basic categories. Class A motor homes are built on a modified chassis, have a place for a driver and come with many of the conveniences of your actual home because they are large and often luxurious. Class C motor homes are smaller versions of those considered Class A and also have a space for a driver and passenger. A truck camper is fitted onto a pickup truck and is appropriate for a weekend getaway or for hauling materials. Then there are pop-up trailers you can tow. They are light units with collapsible walls for storage and contain many of the comforts of home. Fifth wheels attach to the bed of a pickup truck and provide the most comforts among units that are towed.
