Powered by a Caterpillar 505 horsepower diesel engine, the 2001 Country Coach Affinity remains ready for extended travel with a companion 164-gallon fuel tank. For power without the engine, the unit contains a 12,500-watt Onan generator to provide electrical power for all the options such as a refrigerator, washer/dryer, color television, microwave, stove, electric floor heat and remote control electric awning.
Recreational vehicles carry a high weight load. The maximum weight amounts provide important information to the owner and operator of the Affinity. Exceeding the weight limits creates problems not only legally but practically for safe operation. The gross vehicle weight (GVW) listed in the specifications is 46,500 pounds. Since many times the vehicle will be used for towing another item, such as an automobile, the gross combined vehicle weight (GCVW) is important as it defines a total weight limit for the 2001 Country Coach Affinity and the towed item. That total weight is 53,500 pounds. For additional load-handling ability, the vehicle has an optional tag axle which provides the ability to switch the weight for more stability.
Equipped with 17 inch by 1.75 inch air disc brakes on the front with 315/80R by 22.5 Toyo tires, the specifications also call for 14.5-by-10-inch air drum brakes on the rear with 12R/22.5 Toyo tires for the model with a tag axle. That tag axle also has air drum brakes, 16.5-by-7 inch, with 12R/22.5 Toyo tires.
