What is a Gavat?
Gavat is an Indian stringed musical instrument. It belongs to the family of plucked lutes. The Gavat is one of the oldest string instruments in India. The Gavat is similar to the Sursringar and the Surbahar, but with a narrower neck and a smaller soundbox. The Gavat has a long history in Indian classical music.
