Information on Eurostar

Eurostar is a line of high-speed trains that run between London, Brussels and Paris, with Lille as a center point. The Eurostar trains are famous for traveling the "Chunnel," the underwater tunnel through the English Channel. According to Rail Europe, Eurostar has been deemed the World's Leading Rail Service annually since 1998.
  1. Stations

    • Besides the four main city stations that Eurostar frequents, there are two additional stations in the United Kingdom; Ashford and Ebbsfleet International. Passengers can change trains at these stations to continue their journey. Train frequency varies by season.

    Fares

    • Fares vary according to how far you travel and your choice of class; Standard, Leisure Select or Business Premier. Group fares are also available.

    On-board

    • Passengers are allowed a carry-on bag and two luggage bags. All of the cars are non-smoking and there are special facilities on board each train for families traveling with small children. All seats are described as comfortable, however seat spaciousness increases with class. Only Premier ticket-holders have access to the on-board Internet plugs.

    Meals

    • Specialized meals require submitting a form via hand, fax or email in advance.

      Hot and cold snacks and beverages are available for purchase on buffet carts in standard class. A three-course meal, refreshments and a newspaper are complimentary for the Leisure Select and Business Premier class tickets. There are kosher, vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, diabetic, low salt, low fat and child meals available with 24 to 36 hours notice. According to Train Spotting World, there are two chefs per train and at least one is qualified to drive the train in an emergency.

    In the News

    • A technical failure stalled a train in the Chunnel for two hours in January 2010. Another technical failure stopped a train five minutes from the station in February 2010. Eurostar service was canceled for three days in December 2009 due to excessive snow.
