Why Lincoln did not force against the confederacy?

Lincoln did use force against the Confederacy throughout the American Civil War. The war itself was a direct result of the Confederacy's secession from the United States and the subsequent firing on Fort Sumter by Confederate forces. Lincoln responded by issuing a call for volunteers to put down the rebellion. The Union Army was formed and fought numerous battles against the Confederate Army. The war did not end until 1865, with the surrender of the Confederacy.
