Alaska Railroads offers vacation packages to explore this large state. Packages include rail transportation, land tours and hotels. Upgrades in rail cars and hotels are available. Nine different vacation packages range from five to 12 days. Cruise connection packages are also offered for before or after the rail tour. As of spring 2010, prices start at $1,799 per person.

Travelers to Colorado have ten regional options for train travel vacations. The Colorado High Adventure Train explores trails along Pikes Peak, and includes an overnight stay at Barr Camp, a rest area for hikers. For more relaxed traveling, Colorado offers several lunch and dinner trains and scenic tours aboard a restored 1950s luxury liner. Prices vary by the individual tours selected.

The Grand Canyon offers a railroad with vacation packages from one to three days. The restored train takes a trip back through time as it departs from nearby Williams, Arizona. The vacation package includes round-trip travel, hotel accommodations, meals, and upon arrival at the canyon, a motor coach to the rim for sightseeing. As of spring, 2010 coach prices range from $225 for a one-day trip, to $840 per person for a three-day vacation.
