Book a Hawaiian cruise. According to MauiHawaii.org, the inter-island ferry service ended in March of 2009. Since the ferry stopped its service from Oahu to Maui, a cruise is the only way to arrive in Maui by boat. If you are taking a cruise, be aware that you must make all of the cruises's stops and stay on the boat for the entire duration. A cruise is an ideal option, if you plan on visiting numerous Hawaiian islands.
Take a ferry to smaller islands near Maui. While there isn't a ferry service between Oahu and Maui, according to Go Hawaii, there is a daily ferry service to smaller islands, including Lani and Molokai. These ferries usually run five times a day. You can take these ferries for a short day trip from Maui.
Arrive by plane. Travelling to Maui by plane is by far the easiest and most convenient option. Take a plane from Oahu or look for direct flights to Maui's main airport, Kahului Airport. According to Go Hawaii, the flight is only 30 minutes long from Honolulu International Airport in Oahu. Once in Maui, you can rent a car, or take public transportation from the airport to your destination.
