How to Open a Combination Bike Lock

When you ride your bike in public spaces and want to stop somewhere and park, you might want to run a security chain or a cable around the frame and wheel, connect it to a bike rack, and then secure it with a lock. One type of lock that people use to secure their bicycles is known as the combination lock, which comes in two forms, the single-dial lock and the multiple-dial lock. When you are finished with your errand, you'll need to unlock the combination lock before you can get on your bike and ride to your next destination.

Instructions

  1. Single-Dial Lock

    • 1

Rotate the dial on a single-dial combination lock clockwise until you line it up on the first number in your combination code.

    • 2

Rotate the dial counterclockwise until you reach the second number of your combination code. Continue this procedure until you have entered all your numbers.

    • 3

Pull open the pin on your single-dial lock. You are now able to remove it from your security chain or cable and release your bike.

    Multiple-Dial Lock

    • 4

Rotate the first disc on a multiple-dial lock until the first number in your code faces up.

    • 5

Rotate the second disc until the second number in your code faces up. Repeat this procedure for all of the dials.

    • 6

Pull open the pin on your multiple-dial lock. You are now able to remove it from your security chain or cable and release your bike.
