You can buy tickets at the reservation desk in front of the exit from customs, or in the train stations downstairs. There are displays that show which type of train is leaving at which time. You may only buy bus tickets at the information desk outside customs.
If you want to buy the combination train and subway Suica+Nex ticket, you have to do it in the Japan Railways (JR) ticket office downstairs. Show your passport to the agent. The ticket is only available for travelers with foreign passports. The Keisei desk is opposite the station hall from the JR desk.
Tickets on the express trains are valid for a certain seat, time and destination. Tickets on regular trains are valid for the train. The regular train takes approximately one hour 15 minutes, but costs approximately 1,000 yen. The faster express train costs approximately 1,500 yen. To buy a ticket for a regular train, ask for a "limited express" ticket.
Both JR and Keisei have regular and express trains. The Keisei terminus is in Nippori, but the JR trains all pass through Tokyo station. Keisei trains are also slightly cheaper than JR trains.
The price for a train ticket with JR to any destination in central Tokyo is the same. Print out the name of your destination in Japanese characters before you leave home.
The JR and Keisei ticket offices in the station each accept credit cards. The sales desk outside customs only accepts cash. If you need a receipt, remember to ask for it. You will not be able to retain the tickets after you use them.
At the Narita Airport station, trains will wait for travelers at the platform. Doors will open a few minutes before departure. Find your car and wait in line. The car numbers are written on the platform.
At the Terminal 2 station, trains will arrive from Narita Airport, make a brief stop, and depart. Find your car number and wait in line. The car numbers are written on the platform.
When entering the train, find your seat. In the Narita Express trains, the seat numbers are written over the seat. In Keisei line trains, they are written on the luggage shelf above the seat.
JR Narita Express trains all stop at Tokyo Station. Some trains also continue to other destinations. Get off at Tokyo station and take the escalator to the main floor.
Keisei trains do not stop at Tokyo station. To go there from the Keisei terminus at Nippori, see the next section.
If you are taking the bus, go outside and wait at the stop written on the ticket. An attendant will take your luggage and give you a luggage tag. You'll give up the tag later when you get your luggage at Tokyo Station. The bus stop is at the Maronouchi exit of Tokyo Station.
The Keisei line trains stop at Nippori. This is the terminus for the New Skyliner, which only takes 36 minutes from the airport. The Skyliner, local and rapid trains continue to Ueno. Get off at Nippori.
In Nippori, exit the Keisei station, and take the JR Yamanote line (green signs) towards Ueno and Tokyo.
Get off the Yamanote line at Tokyo station.
