How to Book Train Travel From Ljubljana to Milan

Booking train travel from Ljubljana to Milan, Italy, is fairly basic, but it does require a few steps. Your travel will begin in Ljubljana and head directly to Venice. From Venice you will take an Intercity train to arrive in Milan. To travel in this manner, you must reserve tickets from 2 different train stations, in 2 different countries. Of course, if you will be in Europe for quite some time, purchasing a Eurail Pass will be more efficient. However, several of the Eurail Passes do not include Slovenia and therefore you may be forced to book each trip separately.

  Book tickets online via Eurail's Web site, contact Eurail directly via email or call (866) 6-EURAIL to book your tickets and get more information (see Resources).

  Coordinate the times of arrival into the Venice Santa Lucia Station. Take the Intercity Plus train if you can. It is newer and cleaner than the standard Intercity train from Venice to Milan. The trip from Venice to Milan will be between 2 hours and 45 minutes and 3 hours.

  Choose from 8 different cards to pay for your tickets on-line. Choose your rate and your seat reservation. Ticketless travel is an option and you can choose it at the same time you choose your rate. You will pick up your ticket at the station.
