Bringing Bacon to Greece: EU Rules for Personal Imports

It depends on the type and packaging:

• Allowed: Commercially vacuum-packed, shelf-stable bacon (no refrigeration needed) – e.g., jerky-style or fully cooked, sealed pouches.
• Prohibited: Fresh, frozen, or refrigerated bacon; homemade or non-commercially sealed products. These are considered meat products banned under EU Regulation 2019/523 for personal imports from non-EU countries.

All animal products entering the EU must be shelf-stable, commercially packaged, and declared. When in doubt, leave it out—fines and confiscation apply.
