    • Charley O's is one of the most reasonably priced restaurants for a sit-down meal in the Theater District. The decor is traditional, with wood tables and cream-colored walls. The music tends to be rock 'n' roll, but the volume is kept low. The food is traditional American, from buffalo wings to Caesar salad. A three-course prix fixe meal with salad, entree and dessert is $20.

    Barbetta

    • This classic Italian restaurant offers moderately priced meals in the heart of the Theater District. Having celebrated its 100th birthday in 2008, Barbetta is the oldest Italian restaurant in New York City. Dishes include typical northern Italian favorites such as polenta and bagna cauda. You can eat in the traditional dining room with tablecloths, or out back in the garden.

    • This classy establishment is painted pink and does a healthy take on Mediterranean dishes.
