Why are Japanese internment camps created?

Japanese internment camps were created during World War II as a result of the attack on Pearl Harbor by the Imperial Japanese Navy on December 7, 1941. The camps were established by the United States government in order to detain and isolate Japanese Americans and Japanese immigrants, who were considered to be a threat to national security. The camps were justified by the government on the grounds of military necessity and public safety, but they were widely criticized as a violation of civil rights and liberties.
