Located just northwest of Conover, at the edge of Pisgah National Forest, is Leatherwood Mountains. With large equine facilities and a vast network of riding trails, Leatherwood Mountains is an appropriate choice for horse-lovers. West of Conover near Lake Norman is the Statesville/I-77 KOA campground. Guests can enjoy boating and fishing at the lake, and the region is home to several golf courses.
