Cabins on Campgrounds in North Carolina

Cabin Camping is a cost-efficient way for families to experience the camping experience without having to spend money on equipment that may be used infrequently. North Carolina’s diverse geographic areas afford campers different types of experiences depending on whether they wish to stay on the beach, in the coastal plains, the Piedmont or in the mountains.   1. Outer Banks: Kampgrounds of America

    • Kampgrounds of America, or KOA, is a perfect choice for frequent travelers who possess the company’s rewards card. The site at Rodanthe rents one- and two-room cabins as well as lodges for groups of six. The cabins have electricity and cable access. Lodges have heat and air conditioning, bathrooms, televisions and kitchens. Some are pet friendly. Wireless Internet is available on the site for no charge. For fun, campers can rent kayaks and canoes, fish, use the arcade, swim in the seasonal pool or play miniature golf.

    Coastal Plains: Twin Lakes RV Resort

    • Twin Lake’s property features both cottages and cabins. Cabins are waterfront units that accommodate up to six people in a rustic two-room layout. Heat and air conditioning are provided, but not water and sewer. The cottages are trailers of 400-square-feet that can accommodate eight people in four rooms. They have full bathrooms and kitchens. Neither type of lodging provides linens. Pets are not allowed in the cabins or cottages. The property has three fishing lakes, a kid’s play area, game room and camp store.

    Piedmont: Lake Myers RV Resort

    • Mocksville’s Lake Myers Resort is situated next to a private fishing lake. It is a pet-friendly park that offers cabins and villas. Villas are the more deluxe accommodation and sleep four people. They come equipped with cable television, bathrooms, kitchenettes, central air and have living rooms separate from the sleeping area. Cabins are one-room units with electricity and cable, but with no plumbing. On-site amenities include three swimming pools, a miniature golf course, planned parties, a community store and golf cart rentals.

    Mountains: Grandfather Mountain Campground

    • Located near in the Pigsah National Forest near Boone, Foscoe’s Grandfather Mountain Campground offers cabins that can accommodate up to seven people. Small cabins come equipped with linens and cable television. The smaller, cozier cabins have bathrooms with kitchenettes, but no stoves, televisions or linens. Large camping cabins have power and heat, but do not have linens or bathrooms. The property has a trading post where guests can check in and purchase sundries. Hiking and fishing are available on the campground.
