With over 900 beds, the Generator Hostel is the largest hostel in Germany. It is located east of the city center, a 10-minute tram ride from Alexanderplatz, the meeting and transport hub at the heart of the city. The hostel features a restaurant and beer garden, and Internet access is available for guests. There are female-only dorms, including some designated as luxury-dorms with complimentary toiletries and dressing tables. Individual lockers are available in all dorms, but guests need to bring their own locks. Single and twin rooms are available and some have private bathrooms. Reception staff are on duty 24-hours a day.

The hostel is located in the Mitte district of Berlin, in a quieter pedestrianized area. The Mitte district is the city center, and the famous Unter Den Linden promenade is in easy walking distance. The hostel features dorm accommodation, but there are also single and double rooms. Some rooms have private bathrooms.
