What are Scottish churches huts?

A kirk hut (or more correctly a church hut) is a small simple building traditionally used in the Highlands of Scotland as a place of worship during the years when the Church of Scotland was the established church. They were not used for regular worship but for infrequent sacramental services, such as communion.
