Hotels on the Coast in Vancouver

Vancouver, British Columbia, is in the western end of Canada and provides opportunities for sailing activities in Vancouver Harbour, the Strait of Georgia and English Bay. Vacationers looking for waterfront hotels have access to lodging options in Vancouver's western, northern and downtown areas. Most of these hotels are within walking distance of Vancouver's ferry terminals, which offers transportation across the city's bodies of water.

    • The Sylvia Hotel is the only accommodation in downtown Vancouver with a waterfront location on English Bay. This historic hotel has been in operation since 1912, making it one of Vancouver's oldest buildings; the hotel's bar opened in 1954 and was the city's first cocktail lounge. Fine dining is available at the Sylvia Restaurant, the hotel's on-site establishment; the restaurant also offers outdoor patio seating with views of the bay. Some of the hotel's corner rooms offer views of English Bay and downtown Vancouver's Stanley Park.

    Lonsdale Quay Hotel

    • Situated in North Vancouver, the Lonsdale Quay Hotel is on the coast of Vancouver Harbour, less than 15 minutes from downtown Vancouver. The hotel's premium waterfront suite offers panoramic views of the Vancouver skyline, complimentary bathrobes and a whirlpool tub. Other hotel features include a fitness room and badminton court; personal training is available to guests. The hotel is adjacent to Lonsdale Quay Market mall; this mall has more than 90 stores, including boutique shops and restaurants. The Lonsdale Quay ferry is a five-minute walk from the hotel and offers rides across the harbor to downtown Vancouver.

    Classic Horsehoe Bay Motel

    • The Classic Horseshoe Bay Motel in West Vancouver is on the shores of Howe Sound, approximately 30 minutes northwest of downtown Vancouver. This lodging option is a short walk from Sewell's Marina, which offers boat rentals and dining at the Boathouse Restaurant. During the winter, cross-country skiing activities are available in the Coastal Mountains, within 20 minutes of the motel. Classic Horseshoe offers RV parking and a picnic area. Some 22 rooms have antique-style furniture and ceiling fans; all rooms are nonsmoking. Pets may stay for an additional fee. The room rates increase during the summer.

    Steveston Hotel

    • Downtown Vancouver is a 30-minute drive north of the Steveston Hotel, located in Vancouver's southern suburb, Richmond. This hotel is on the shores of the Strait of Georgia and lodged in an 1895 building. Steveston Hotel renovated all the rooms since that time; all rooms have poster beds and the deluxe rooms include whirlpool tubs. The hotel provides a sauna and whirlpool tub accessible for all guests. On-site dining is at the Steveston Hotel Cafe -- which serves breakfast -- and Buck & Ear Bar and Grill, a pub-style establishment with televisions for sports and live music. The Steveston Museum is a short walk from the hotel and offers a glimpse of early 20th century life in Richmond.
