Hotels Near Colemans Lake in Georgia

Colemans Lake is in Midville, a small town of fewer than 500 people, in Burke County, Georgia. Burke County is home to the Georgia Field Trials, one of the nation's oldest hunting dog competitions. There are no hotels on Coleman Lake, which is a widening of the Ogeechee River, but there is a campground and restaurant. The Coleman Restaurant overlooks the river, which is draped in Spanish moss. You may spot alligators while you are dining. The nearest hotels are in Wadley and Swainsboro.

    • The Coleman House Inn, in Swainsboro, a 20-minute drive south of Coleman Lake, is a historic home built in 1904 by the owner of the Coleman & Ellison Railway. The painted lady home is 10,000 square feet with 98 windows, 500 spindles and 2,000 square feet of porches surrounding the house. A widow's walk crowns the house. Rooms are decorated with antiques. The inn is the winner of the 1991 Georgia Trust Preservation Award, is listed in the National Historical Register and is featured in America's Painted Ladies. A free breakfast is offered and lunch is served every day except Saturdays and you can choose to order from the gourmet menu or the southern-style buffet.
