Lake Cormorant, Mississippi, is a community in DeSoto County in northwestern Mississippi. It lies just to the east of the state's border with Arkansas, and just to the south of the border with Tennessee. Visitors to Lake Cormorant will not find any hotels, motels or other types of lodging in the community. However, an abundance of hotels can be found in communities to the southwest and to the northeast of Lake Cormorant.
The resort community of Tunica Resorts, formerly called Robinsonville and sometimes still referred to as such, lies just nine miles to the southwest of Lake Cormorant, a 15-minute drive down Highway 61. Here, visitors will find numerous hotel casinos, such as Harrah's Tunica Hotel and Casino, Gold Strike Casino Resort and Bally's Tunica. Those looking for quieter accommodations will find the Best Western Tunica Resorts and the Key West Inn in southern Tunica Resorts, removed from the casino scene.
The city of Horn Lake, Mississippi, lies about 13 miles to the east of Lake Cormorant, a drive of just over 20 minutes. Here, visitors will find an abundance of chain hotels, including Drury Inn and Suites, the Ramada Inn, Sleep Inn, Days Inn, Econo Lodge, La Qunita, Motel 6 and the Best Western Goodman Inn and Suites. All of these hotels are convenient to Interstates 69 and 55. For dining, Hooters, KFC, Zaxby's and Sekisui Sushi and Steakhouse are all in the area.
The city of Southaven is located just north of Horn Lake on the border with Tennessee, less than a 30-minute drive from Lake Cormorant. This Memphis suburb with a population of 42,000 has several hotels, including the Comfort Inn, Quality Inn, Super 8, Best Western, Holiday Inn Express, Southern Inn and Travelers Inn. All of these hotels are within minutes of Memphis International Airport. Visitors looking for Memphis barbecue close to their hotel will find Tops Bar-B-Q and Interstate Barbecue right in town.
A handful of Memphis, Tennessee, hotels are within a 30-minute drive of Lake Cormorant. The closest of these, a straight drive up Route 161/14, are the Relax Inn Memphis and the Scottish Inn, both on the southwestern outskirts of the city near Robco and Coro Lakes and just minutes from Otis Redding Park. The Super 8 and Colonial Inn and Suites are just a half hour away from Lake Cormorant, off Interstates 69 and 55 south of Memphis International Airport.
