The Maui Ocean Center is an aquarium in Hawaii with various activities like snorkeling and whale watching. Schools are welcome to visit for fun, educational activities. Fewer than 20 miles from the Royal Lahaina Resort, the Maui Ocean Center offers activities whether visiting for relaxation, a honeymoon or family vacation. The aquarium features several exhibits such as the hammerhead harbor, the turtle lagoon and the marine mammal discovery center. The Maui Glass Bottom Boat offers surround-viewing in an air-conditioned underwater cabin, seating up to 34 passengers. The boat allows guests to get an up-close view of the shallow reef. Located at the Lahaina Harbor Slip 6, the boat is less than 10 minutes from the Royal Lahaina Resort. Standard tours last approximately 60 minutes and deluxe trips may take as long as 90 minutes. During each tour, a naturalist is on board to narrate. The boat offers complimentary admission for children under 5 with each paid adult.
The Whalers Village is on Kaanapali Beach and offers 90 retail shops and restaurants. An oceanfront shopping venue, the Whalers Village features an on-site whale museum. The whale museum features a variety of exhibits such as 19th-century scrimshaw pictures finely carved on whalebone and teeth. The museum offers free admission for guests to witness the life of ordinary sailors dating back from 1825 to 1860. The Whaler Village is less than two miles from the Royal Lahaina Resort. The village offers on-site activities such as lei making, hula lessons and evening performances with Tahitian and Polynesian dances as well as Japanese taiko drums.
Designed by architect Arthur Jack Snyder in 1976, Ka'anapali Golf Course is a par-70 with 6,400 yards of golf. Landscaped with native flowers and coconut trees along many fairways, the course features gulches, natural canals and lava rock boundaries. The course offers programs taught by qualified golf instructors as well as an on-site golf shop with golf attire, clubs, headwear, balls and other accessories. The Ka'anapali Golf Course is less than two miles from the Royal Lahaina Resort.
