Raleigh, NC Attractions for Kids

Raleigh is the capital of North Carolina and offers Broadway plays, the North Carolina Symphony and Carolina Ballet for the enjoyment of adult residents and visitors. But kids win out in this metropolis' many offerings as well. Raleigh offers interactive kids' museums as well as a fun park where they can run off some of their energy.
  1. North Carolina Museum of Life and Science

    • The North Carolina Museum of Life and Science (ncmls.org) consists of 84 acres and outdoor exhibits where kids can see wildlife like bears and red wolves, which are an endangered species. They also have a butterfly conservancy and the Dinosaur Trail, which teaches children about dinosaurs that lived during the Cretaceous period. For kids under 6, they offer Play to Learn, a program that allows kids to interact with more than 60 different kinds of animals.

    Marbles Kids Museum

    • Marbles Kids Museum (marbleskidsmuseum.org) has six interactive exhibits that are designed to inspire thought, creativity, activity and innovation. These include the Art Loft, where children can sculpt, draw and paint; Moneypalooza, which offers activities centered around money management; and the Storybook Forest, where kids and their parents can delve into books together. This museum also offers camp programs during the summer and an IMAX theater.

    Adventure Landing

    • Adventure Landing (adventurelanding.com) is a fun park that offers kids and the rest of the family laser tag, three miniature golf courses, go-carts, an arcade, batting cages and a snack bar. Closed-toed shoes are required to play laser tag. You can pay by the game or you can get multiple game passes. They do not have a sit-down restaurant, but they do offer a snack bar with kid-friendly drinks and food like fries and pizza.

    Frankie's Fun Park

    • Frankie's Fun Park (frankiesfunpark.com) offers laser tag, batting cages, an arcade, miniature golf, bumper boats, three go-cart tracks and more extreme rides like the Drop Zone and Sidewinder. You can buy tokens for the arcade area and passes that are priced individually for each of the other options. Frankie's also has a restaurant where you can eat and recharge before continuing on with your day.
