Virginia Beach Attractions for Kids

Admiral Christopher Newport and English explorers arrived on Virginia Beach in 1607. Admiral Newport moved inland to establish Jamestown, and 14 years later, colonists settled Virginia Beach. Today, Virginia Beach is a thriving boardwalk town that pleases beachgoers. Its kid-friendly attractions include a motor world with go-karts and mini-golf, a water park and an old Coast Guard station.
  1. Motor World

    • Motor World has a Kiddie City area that features ten age-appropriate rides, including go-karts for ages three and older and a roller coaster. Kids can also ride in bumper boats. The "Gravity Storm" is an acrobatic ride, in which kids are strapped into a harness and spun upside down. Additionally, the venue has go-karts with two seats, allowing an adult to ride with a child. Off the track, Motor World has a 36-hole miniature golf course that sports a shipwreck theme, equipped with waterfalls, caves and lost ships.

    Ocean Breeze Waterpark

    • Kids don't need to go swimming in the nearby Atlantic Ocean for water fun. Ocean Breeze Waterpark features the Buccaneer Bay water playground for children, which features a pirate ship replica for kids to play on. Other options include a lazy river for kids and water slides that children and parents can ride together. The park has 16 water slides and a wave pool, and some of its rides may be appropriate for kids, depending on their age and maturity. The park is open from May to September.
