The Lakefront Inn and Motel invites you to blaze a trail in the snowmobile capital of Vermont. With direct access to extensive trails and the local lake, you can hike through beautiful forests, take a canoe or sailboat out on the water, go for a swim or just lie in the sun. The Lakefront Resort has three buildings: an inn, a motel and a heated garage. Restaurants and shopping are all within walking distance, including the adjacent local deli, but Lakefront also offers full breakfast and lunch menus of fresh-baked goods and gourmet coffee.
The Wildflower Inn and Family Resort is located 30 minutes away from Island Pond. This resort is tailored toward family vacations, offering structured activities for kids, time alone for parents and plenty of family-oriented adventures. You can ski at nearby Burke Mountain, view the fall foliage, hold a country wedding, bike the Kingdom Trails, rent snowshoes or ice skates and swim in the outdoor pool or nearby lakes. Breakfast and lunch are served on site, and homemade chocolate chip cookies are set out in the afternoon. For dinner, eat on site at Juniper's, which gets its meat from a farm down the road.
Other resorts near Island Pond are more than 30 minutes away. Quimby Country is a collection of 20 cottages about 40 minutes away from Island Pond. Tucked between the Great North Woods and Averill Lake, Quimby's is homey and serene, offering plenty of outdoor activities. Quimby's doesn't have television, but their summer counselors can take your children for a hike or a picnic, and in the evening, you can sit down to dinner in the family-style dining hall. If you enjoy hitting the slopes, try the Balsams Resort, about an hour away from Island Pond. The skiing is free, and their 8,000-acre estate offers recreation with luxury. Restaurants, a salon and a spa are all on site. Other resorts within an hour's drive of Island Pond include Jay's Peak Ski and Summer Resort and the Mountain View Grand Resort and Spa.
If you are looking for a place closer to Island Pond and don't require all the amenities of a resort, there are two hotels within Island Pond itself: the Clyde River Hotel and the Random House Inn, both small facilities with basic amenities near the heart of the town. Lyndonville and Derby are both about 30 minutes away from Island Pond, and each town hosts several hotels, motels and inns. In Derby, you will find a Super 8, The Inn at the Top of the Hill, the Doctor's Inn and Richard's All Seasons Lodge. Toward the south in Lyndonville, you can stay in the Lynburke Motel, the Inn at Mountain View Farm, the Colonnade Inn, the Fairbanks Inn or the Comfort Inn and Suites.
