Hotels near Galivants Ferry, South Carolina

In 2001 Galivants Ferry was placed on the National Register of Historic Places, in recognition of the town's unique heritage. First mentioned in written history in 1792, the ferry crossing was regarded as a benefit to the public and was maintained to carry goods and people across the Pee Dee River. Galivants Ferry is also well-known in political circles, for a long-standing tradition of "Stump Speakings." Democratic stump speaking takes place in the town every two years, though the pine stump that formed a platform 128 years ago has been replaced by the raised porch of the town's General Store.
