Daufuskie Island is located in extreme southern South Carolina just north of the Georgia border. This 5-mile-long island is accessible by boat only. It is known for its natural beauty, wildlife and particularly its golf courses, including one designed by Jack Nicklaus. Since the closing of the Daufuskie Island Resort & Spa in March 2009, there are no longer any hotels on Daufuskie Island. The nearest hotels are located on Hilton Head Island.
Located on the southwestern tip of Hilton Head, the South Beach Inn is the closest hotel physically to Daufuskie Island, though not the closest to the public ferries. This hotel may be a good choice if you plan to rent your own boat to travel to Daufuskie Island. It is situated in Marina Village, only a short walk from the ocean, shopping and restaurants. Local eateries include the Salty Dog Café and Lands End Tavern. The South Beach Inn consists of 17 suites, 13 of which are one-bedroom units and four of which have two bedrooms. Features include separate living rooms, kitchenettes, private balconies and sleeper sofas. Some suites offer two bathrooms.
Quality Inn & Suites is situated close to Broad Creek Marina, which provides ferry service to Daufuskie Island. This exterior-corridor hotel has an on-site restaurant and bar as well as a swimming pool. Three-room suites are available. All rooms are equipped with microwaves and refrigerators. A stay at the Quality Inn includes a free deluxe continental breakfast each morning. Pets are permitted for a fee.
A short drive from Broad Creek Marina, Hilton Head Metropolitan Hotel is nestled in between the beach and Coligny Plaza. The plaza is home to shops, entertainment venues and restaurants, including Steamer Seafood & Raw Bar, Frosty Dog Café and Stu’s Surfside. The Metropolitan has an outdoor pool and also offers bicycle rentals so guests can use on the nearby bike path. Choose between double rooms, king rooms, family rooms with kitchenettes or two-room suites, many of which have views of the ocean.
Park Lane Hotel & Suites is centrally located on the middle of the island, within easy reach of beaches, golf courses, restaurants and nightlife. Area restaurants include Alexander’s Seafood, the Bonefish Grill and Antonio’s. Hotel amenities include an outdoor pool and Jacuzzi, basketball and tennis courts, and a workout facility. All rooms feature kitchenettes and private balconies. Pets are welcome for a fee.
