Westmoreland is located in the northeastern part of Virginia, approximately a mile from the area where the Potomac River flows into the Chesapeake Bay. This area is known for its seafood restaurants and historical landmarks. One of them is Stratford Hall, the home of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee. The Holiday Inn Tappahannock hotel is two miles from the Rappahannock River and the Essex County Museum. A golf course and places to shop are within walking distance of the hotel, which is also one mile from downtown Tappahannock.
