Valle Hermoso used to be a quaint little town in the northeast region of Mexico. Since 2000, violence from drugs gangs has plagued the town. As recent as January 2011, police engaged in heavy firefights with organized crime syndicates. Accordingly, Valle Hermoso does not provide the most comfortable lodging options for the out-of-town traveler. However, just 30 minutes to the northeast, the colonial town of Heroica Matamoros offers quality hospitality in a safe environment. If you need to travel to Valle Hermoso for any reason, Heroica Matamoros is a good place to search for hotels.
The Hacienda del Viejo hotel sits in the northern part of Heroica Matamoros. It offers three types of rooms: single bed, double bed and junior suites.
