Turners Falls is part of the town of Montague, in Franklin County. Originally a planned industrial community, a revitalized Turners Falls is now the center of Montague. From old abandoned mills, the RiverCulture Project created the Great Falls Discovery Center, which is a museum of the region's history, nature and culture. The Center has fish tanks and habitat exhibits surrounded by four acres of butterfly gardens and native plantings along the canal. Theaters and other attractions join the renewal process as this old mill town gains a new life.

    • Situated across the river from Turners Falls, Poetry Ridge lies within Rocky Mountain National Park, a leafy getaway with park trails just beyond the door. The building dates back to 1912 and has seven stone fireplaces, ensuring a warm spot even in a New England winter. Poetry Ridge has only six bedrooms but can cater for wedding parties, corporate retreats and special events. Breakfast is a special event, with fresh muffins and waffles, fruit and hot dishes.

    • Accommodation at the Brandt House features a choice of nine individual suites, one of which is a two-story penthouse with a kitchen and a cozy living area. Breakfast consists of freshly baked goods, fruit, granola and coffee, with hot dishes on weekends.

    • The Hampton Inn in Greenfield has 68 rooms, which have coffee, Internet access and complimentary HBO. A complimentary hot breakfast is served buffet style; for guests in a hurry, breakfast bags can be picked up to go. Greenfield is about 2 miles from Turners Falls and 5 miles from the historic town of Deerfield. The Hampton Inn has a fitness room and indoor pool and is totally nonsmoking.

    Quality Inn Hotel Greenfield

    • The Quality Inn has facilities for smokers and is pet friendly, charging $20 per pet. A complimentary breakfast is provided, and the hotel also has a restaurant. All rooms have cable TV, high-speed wireless Internet access and free local calls. Although the reviews for this hotel are mixed, the rooms are lower priced than others given here, and the Quality Inn allows pets.
