Waldo is located in the northern portion of the Florida peninsula and has a population of about 700. It contains three hotels, all of which are located along U.S. Highway 301. There are also several hotels in nearby cities like Starke and Gainseville. Regional attractions include the Waldo Flea Market, the Butterfly Rainforest, golf courses, parks and the Florida Museum of History.

Hampton Lake Bed and Breakfast, located about five miles north of Waldo and half a mile from U.S. Highway 301, provides lakefront accommodation situated on 60 acres of open land. Amenities include a hot tub, free wireless Internet, in-room television, bath robes, a boat launch, complimentary drinks and a full breakfast. The hotel contains seven bedrooms, some of which include a Jacuzzi bath tub. Rates run between $99 and $159 per night, as of 2011.
Gainesville, which is about 15 miles southwest of Waldo, contains a large number of hotels including Holiday Inn, Travelers Inn and Hampton Hotel & Suites. These three hotels are convenient to S.R. 24, which leads directly to Waldo. Holiday Inn -- University Center costs around $170 per night, while Travelers Inn costs an average of $57 and Hampton Hotel & Suites runs around $150, as of 2011.
