Country Hotels in Stratford, Virginia

Stratford Hall Plantation, the birthplace of Robert E. Lee, is a National Historic Landmark and 1,900-acre working farm set alongside the Potomac River in Virginia. It is a well-known tourist attraction in the rural region, and it caters to overnight guests with three on-site lodging options: Cheek Guest House, Astor Guest House and Guest Cabins. The closest town to Stratford, Montross, also offers accommodations.

  1. Cheek Guest House

    • With 15 guest rooms, Cheek Guest House is the largest of the three guest accommodation options on the Stratford Hall estate. It sits within a serene woodland area and offers a spacious deck for enjoying the view. Another common area for guests is the great room, which features plush sofas, a fireplace, a small library and a television. Guest rooms are available with one king or two twin beds, and they all have a private bathroom. In-room amenities include coffeemakers and wireless Internet access. The Cheek Guest House has a five-room minimum requirement for bookings.

    Astor Guest House

    • The Astor Guest House features six guest rooms, all with a private bathroom. The log cabin building has an elegant, traditionally decorated interior with white walls and dark wood furnishings accented in chintz. Three of the guest rooms have twin beds and three have a king bed; they all feature coffeemakers and wireless Internet access. House guests enjoy use of a comfortable, informal living room and an outdoor deck overlooking woodlands.

    Guest Cabins

    • Most of the Guest Cabins at Stratford Hall, which line the road leading to the plantation's historic mill, are genuine 1930s log cabins. A limited number of the rustic units are available for overnight guests. Each is unique in decor and amenities. Guests who wish to stay in one of the cabins are encouraged to make a request in advance, as availability is limited.

    Washington & Lee Motel

    • The Washington and Lee Motel is located in the small countryside town of Montross, which is about five miles from Stratford Hall. The budget-friendly establishment offers air conditioned rooms with free wireless Internet access and premium cable channels. In-room microwaves and refrigerators are available upon request. All the rooms in the sprawling one-story building open onto a veranda that is furnished with Adirondack chairs and overlooks a duck pond. There are several restaurants within walking distance of the motel.
