Wichita has the feel of a big city without all the hustle and bustle. The southern Kansas city offers a handful of big-city attractions — including museums, botanical gardens, shopping, dining and live entertainment — but as of 2006 was home to about 350,000 residents, many of whom are spread out across the city's wide boundaries. As of 2011, room rates ranged from $125 to $275, depending on the room and the time of year. In addition to a daily breakfast, room rates include nightly dessert, coffee and tea, as well as wine, cheese and a variety of other beverages on weekend evenings.

    Vermilion Rose Bed & Breakfast

    • Vermilion Rose Bed and Breakfast is housed in an 1887 Queen Anne-style home in a historic neighborhood of downtown Wichita. The building offers four rooms, each with its own private restroom and shower. Each room has different decor and amenities, with available options including a brick fireplace, bathtubs, antique wardrobes and a four-poster bed. As of 2011, room rates ranged from $85 to $105 per night, plus tax, which includes a continental breakfast each morning. The inn's shared space includes a parlor with a piano, three large porches and a main room with chairs and a fireplace.
