Merrickville-Wolford, in eastern Ontario, promotes itself as the "Jewel of the Rideau." The Rideau Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, splits the village at the Blockhouse, itself a National Historic Site of Canada. Merrickville was founded in the late 1700s; the village of Wolford was united with Merrickville in the late 1990s, creating the new Merrickville-Wolford. Many of the accommodation options in the village are bed and breakfasts.
