Pamplin, Virginia is a small town in both Appomattox and Prince Edward Counties. While it earned the name Pamplin City during the railroad boom of the 19th century, its fortunes have since declined. During the 1990s, state and federal grants enabled the town to renovate the railroad depot and upgrade the water and sewer lines. The town remains small, however, and there is only a cottage to rent in Pamplin proper. Nearby Appomattox, however, has two motels and a bed and breakfast.
The only lodging option in Pamplin proper, Hidden Treasure Acres is a two bedroom guest house on 47 acres of land adjacent to a two and a half acre lake. The cottage includes a bathroom, full kitchen, and living room with a Franklin stove. The guest house is on the grounds of an adult rehabilitation center and includes access to an indoor heated swimming pool. Hidden Treasure Acres can be rented daily, weekly or for the weekend.

These motels include the chain motels Super 8 Farmville, the Hampton Inn Farmville, the Comfort Inn and a Days Inn as well as the independent Farmville Motel. These motels are all convenient to Longwood College and Hampden-Sydney College as well as being less than 30 minutes from Pamplin City. Farmville is also home to the Robert Russa Moton Museum, a museum dedicated to the study of civil rights in education.
