While not known for its tourism industry, McAlester has some points of interest. Located in the Southeast Oklahoma county of Pittsburg, the city is home to the Oklahoma State Penitentiary; Choctaw Casino; and Krebs, the Little Italy of Oklahoma. A wide selection of chain hotels are found in the city, mostly located on the arterial road of the South George Nigh Expressway (US-69), which runs north to south through the city.
As this hotel's name suggests, it's based on the TV show Happy Days, which aired in the '70s and '80s, but was themed in the '50s.
