The city of Cuthbert was named after Colonel Alfred Cuthbert who was a congressman and judge. The city was originally incorporated in 1831 and holds the county seat in Randolph County. Andrew College is located in Cuthbert and it is also home to the Greenwood Cemetery where the 24 confederate soldiers who died at Hood Hospital are buried.
