Alcova is arguably one of the smallest towns in the state of Wyoming and generally in the United States, with the last documented population being 21, in July 2007. This tiny town is known mostly for the Alcova Reservoir, next to the town, and the Pathfinder National Wildlife Refuge, 10 miles to the west. Such a small settlement does not offer any sort of accommodation, so the closest hotel options are at the nearby town of Casper.
Located in Casper, Wyoming, approximately 18 miles to the northeast and 30 minutes from Alcova, Parkway Plaza offers the most amenities in the town. In addition to the common guest rooms, there are business and deluxe executive suites, as well as special Jacuzzi suites. The hotel has its own fitness center, indoor heated pool and two beauty salons. Parkway Cafe and All That Jazz are the dining options inside the property, while Poor Boys Steakhouse and Barry's Pizzeria are less than a three-minute walk away.
Best Western is located on the junction of I-25 with Wyoming Highway 220, which leads to Alcova. The many attractions and dining options in the area make up for the few amenities provided, including cable TV, with HBO and Showtime and a fitness center. The main attractions include the National Historic Trails and the Casper Events Center, both a half mile away. Next door is the Casper Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, providing more information on the nearby attractions. Nearby dining and snack options include El Jarro, as well as Exxon and Dairy Queen.
The Super 8 franchise runs four hotels in Casper, Wyoming, the closest to Alcova located at the west end of the town on Wyoming Highway 220, the road to Alcova. Amenities include free wireless internet throughout the property and cable TV with HBO. Pizza Hut and Burger King are within a 10-minute walk, while Central Wyoming Fair Grounds and Fort Caspar Museum are half a mile north of the hotel.
While not exactly a hotel, Red Butte Ranch is the closest accommodation you can find near Alcova. Promoted as a refuge and a place to experience the wildlife of Wyoming, the ranch comprises private cottages and rooms in the main house, near the river at Bessemer Bend, halfway from Casper to Alcova. Hunting, hiking and fishing are some of the activities available. Not many attractions are nearby, apart from the natural beauty of the area, and the sole dining option is the Goose Egg Inn, on Goose Egg Rd, about half a mile southeast of the lodge.
