Wapanucka, Oklahoma is a very small town at the intersection of State Hwy. 7 and 48 in southern Oklahoma. There are no hotels in the town, but the town is centrally located between lakes and reservoirs, so it could be a good base for many outdoor recreational activities. A wide variety of hotels are within 20 miles of Wapanucka.

    • The Comfort Inn in Atoka, 21 miles from Wapanucka, is near the confederate memorial and the Atoka Reservoir, a large lake for fishing and boating. This hotel has 53 rooms and some of them are suites with kitchens, sofa sleepers and whirlpool bathtubs. All of the rooms have microwaves, refrigerators and flat-screen television with cable connections. The Comfort Inn has an indoor and an outdoor pool, fitness center, and offers a free hot breakfast. Free Wi-Fi is available as well. The hotel is pet friendly, but there is a $25 fee.

    Best Western Atoka

    • The Best Western of Atoka is on the east side of town and near the Atoka Reservoir and 23 miles from Wapanucka. This hotel has 54 rooms on two floors, and 42 of them are non-smoking rooms. The Best Western has an outdoor pool, meeting and banquet facilities, fitness center and satellite - TV in the rooms. Rooms also have a coffeemaker, ironing board, microwave and refrigerator.     • The Super 8 of Atoka is on the main drag through town on your way to the Atoka Reservoir.

    The Area

    • Wapenucka is a town of fewer than 1,000 people and is largely agricultural. Lake Texoma is 15 miles to the south, on the border of Texas and Oklahoma. It is the largest lake in Oklahoma and one of the largest in Texas. There are several parks around the lake. Atoka Reservoir is to the east and offers boating and other water recreational activities. Also to the east is the McGee Creek Natural Scenic State Recreation Area. The capitol of the Chikasaw Nation is in nearby in Tishomingo.
