Hotels Near Nusa Penida, Bali

Nusa Penida is one of three islands located off the southeastern coast of Bali, Indonesia. Larger than its two nearby islands, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan, it provides little tourist infrastructure, but offers natural beauty and activities that range from hiking on its mountains to diving opportunities. There are several accommodations on and near the island with modern amenities and packages that include multiple-day scuba diving and snorkeling excursions.

      The MM Diving Resort, based on Nusa Penida, is a diving center managed by a Czech nature organization. It offers 10 twin-bed bungalows with a private bath and small terrace, along with basic amenities such as 220V electrical outlets, fans, insect repellent, fresh tap water for bathing (not drinking) and breakfast. The property includes a tropical garden with bamboo deck-chairs, and a small restaurant that offers both Czech and Indonesian cuisine, including schnitzels with mashed potatoes, fried cheese, potato pancakes, fresh seafood and draft beer. With its focus on nature preservation, the resort manages Project Green Life, which protects several acres of rainforest, but allows visitors to view its variety of wildlife that ranges from orangutans to gibbons. It also manages the Kura Kura Project, which protects turtles. The resort offers a variety diving excursions that range from five to 22 days and include transportation on its fully-equipped expeditionary ship, Sea Lady. The resort also offers motorcycle tours throughout the island.

    EcoPenida

    • EcoPenida, located on Nusa Penida just below Bukit Mundi (the highest point on the island), is a private home providing tourist lodging in a sustainable farming community. Its accommodations consist of four Baline-style buildings: a Bale (an outdoor thatched-hut), a private Veranda with views of the tropical surroundings, the Main House, and the two-bedroom house, which includes king-size beds. With a minimum of a two-night stay, visitors receive all meals and Balinese-style dinners, round-trip transportation from Padang Bai (the nearest boat dock), guided hikes to Bukit Mundi and the Nusa Penida bird sanctuary, and private time on Penida Beach. The itinerary also includes a Balinese ceremony for visitors and a traditional Nyepi ceremony at the Village Crossroads. The house is available for rent for individuals, couples, small groups and families.

    Waka Nusa Resort

      The Waka Nusa Resort is a full-service accommodation located on the white-sand beaches of Nusa Lembongan. It offers 10 private thatched-roof bungalows, five with air-conditioning and five with ceiling fans, all designed with Eastern Indonesian architecture and special amenities such as king-size beds, private bath and deck, mosquito nets, complimentary fruit basket, drinking water and breakfast. The property also offers an on-site outdoor swimming pool surrounded by a tropical garden, a restaurant and bar, a full-service spa, daily afternoon tea and coffee with Balinese cakes, 24-hour guest services and roundtrip airport transport. The on-site dive shop provides diving and snorkeling equipment and guided excursions led by the certified dive master. Special honeymoon or celebration packages are also available that include cakes, a welcome flower arrangement, welcome letter, VIP status and a Balinese room decoration. As of November 2010, the nightly rates start at $120 per bungalow.
