The Summerlin community in western Las Vegas is approximately 15 minutes from the gaming action at the casinos on the Las Vegas Strip. This planned community was the brainchild of famed inventor, Howard Hughes, and is a primarily residential neighborhood, with shopping centers, restaurants and a bicycle trail system. There are no motels in Summerlin, but tourists can find reasonably priced motel-style accommodations near the Strip and North Las Vegas.
The palm-tree surrounded La Quinta Inn, at five minutes away, is the closest motel-style accommodation to Summerlin. This motel is approximately 15 minutes from the Summerlin area. The motel's Queen of Hearts, Queen of Diamonds and King of Clubs suites have kitchenettes. The King of Clubs suite also has a dining area, living room and private patio. Other motel features include an outdoor swimming pool and complimentary passes to the Bikini Fitness Health Club, less than five minutes away.
The motel is a five-minute drive from the Fremont Experience, an enclosed, pedestrian mall section of Fremont Street that offers restaurants and shops. This Las Vegas tourist spot also provides gaming at the Golden Gate Hotel, the Binion Gambling Hall and Main Street Station.
The Vegas Chalet Motel in North Las Vegas is a 20-minute drive from Summerlin, and less than 15 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip. A possible day trip from the motel would be a 30-minute jaunt to the Lake Mead Recreation Area, which offers fishing and boating in Las Vegas Bay, as well as hiking trails and scenic routes that feature overlook points for photo opportunities. Off-site dining is within five minutes of the motel on North Las Vegas Boulevard.
